What Kind of Camera Should My Wedding Photographer Use fotografies gamou If you are in the process of looking for a wedding photographer, chances are you will soon hear the terms: medium format, 35mm, and digital. Those are the three primary types of camera systems currently used by wedding photographers. We, the wedding photographers, have argued amongst ourselves for years as to which camera system is best. I'll start by sharing with you about the different camera systems and will then give you my opinion of which camera system your wedding photographer should use. Medium FormatFor many years medium format has been the absolute best option. A medium format camera uses film that is 3 times the size of a 35mm negative-- resulting in higher resolution images and beautiful enlargements, however, the cameras and processing costs are very expensive. Primary advantages: high resolution negatives. Previously, the fact that a person owned a Medium Format camera was almost, in and of itself, a sign that they were a true "wedding photographer" (due to the expense of the system). Disadvantages: expensive to operate (film costs are so high that some wedding photography books encourage medium format photographers to limit the photos they take); film can be lost or damaged during processing; slower to focus and operate. 35mmFor many years 35mm has had a bad reputation for providing poor quality enlargements -- especially when compared to medium format. However, over the past 10 years the quality of 35mm film has improved tremendously. It is now a common format used by many professional photographers, especially those who use the photojournalistic style and shoot close to a thousand or more images on a wedding day. Primary advantages to 35mm: fast (easy to quickly focus and shoot during), much improved quality of enlargements (many people would have a hard time telling the difference between a 35mm and medium format 8x10 enlargement). Disadvantages: processing film is becoming more and more expensive, and film can be damaged or loss during processing. Many photographers that shoot film are now having the negatives scanned so that the files become a digital file. DigitalProfessional digital wedding photography has been a viable option since about the year 2000 (although some would argue that date). The quality of digital cameras has now reached a point where I now feel digital has surpassed the quality of medium format negatives. Keep in mind there is a broad variety of cameras, and a "professional" digital camera from 2004 that cost $4,500 new will not capture the quality of images that a "pro-am" (a camera targeted to advanced amateurs and also professionals) from 2010 that costs $2,000 will capture. "Digital camera" covers a massive spectrum of cameras and camera quality fotografies gamou. Primary digital advantages: instant review of images on the back of the camera; no film and processing costs (although the savings is offset by the additional computer time required to process the digital images); more control over the images (i. e. , a slight rotation or cropping of an image is quick and easy with digital but requires a custom print from 35mm or medium format). Many digital cameras surpass the quality of even medium format. Disadvantages: technology changes rapidly over time and cameras soon are outdated (although this doesn't necessarily effect you, as the consumer). Memory cards are easier to lose than rolls of film (if your wedding photographer uses a digital camera, ask them how they make sure the photos arrive safely back at the studio). So, which camera system should my photographer useNo matter what you have been told - all three formats are a viable method for wedding photography. Some might be more expensive than others, but they all CAN produce good results. The fact is that all three systems can result in poor-quality photos, too. Many photographers use several of the camera systems. Some might use medium format for the formals but 35mm for the reception and ceremony coverage. Others will primarily shoot digital, but might bring film cameras as backup equipment. This is the key: before signing a contract with a photographer, ask to see sample enlargements that were taken with the same equipment that would be used at your wedding. If you like the quality and color of the images, it doesn't really matter whether 35mm, digital, or a medium format camera was used to record the image! Winter Wedding Photos The winter season may give you lots of wonderful memories, despite the freezing weather. If you are planning to have a winter wedding, it will be much advantageous in many ways. The following are several ideas to make your winter wedding very memorable, unique and fun. PlanningUse your creative juices to the max and try out your ideas regarding the theme and winter gowns that would generate theatrical effect to the event. During this season you can book any venues without difficulty, hence planning can be a lot easier for you, as well as managing the whole event. VenueConsider the number of your guests when looking for a venue. Ensure that the place has an efficient heating system to avoid causing chill and discomfort to your guests. The place can be a historic palace, mansion, castle or your favorite club or a nearby inn. The guests should get to access the area easily even if there is an expected increase in snowfall, thus, checking the vicinity of your venue prior the event will certainly give you the heads up. On your winter wedding, photos are a must, so make sure there are areas in the venue where your guests can pose and take pictures. Arrival at the VenueInnovative ideas can be very useful during winter season. Instead of arriving with a lavish limo, why not rent a carriage with a white horse This is very elegant and will make you feel like a royalty in your wedding photos. Winter Wedding DecorationsYour wedding venue may already have its interior decorated, but you may want to add some of your personal touches just to give the place a bit of a face-lift. You may use various winter accents such as pine cones, ivy leaves, pumpkin gourds, fir and Baby's Breath. fotografies gamou Using some transparent fishing line, you can hand synthetic snowflakes. Elegant candles in silvery candelabras can be arranged on the tables covered with white tablecloths with silver glitters. Choose a centerpiece that would complement the color of your tablecloths, as well as the other decorations. Winter wedding gownsPlanning for a wedding would not be complete without choosing the right wedding dress apt for the winter season. Looking hot on a freezing weather is very important for a lot of ladies. You have the option of going for the icy theme and wear heavily laced satin for your outfit. Off-shoulder wedding dresses are not suitable for the winter season. But, if you would really want to wear that strappy gown, you can always have shawls, velvet wraps or hooded capes that would simply look very elegant with your wedding dress. Match your gown with the appropriate and elegant jewelry to add to the fresh look you will have in your wedding. You winter wedding photos will be more interesting if you add other colors that will contrast the winter white, such as greys, glittering silvers and frosty blue. MenuSticking to the frosty chilly theme of your wedding, you can design your white cake with snowflake outlines. Setting up sugar and ice sculptures could definitely add an awesome effect to the food. You can also add on a white chocolate fountain with fruits to really bring the excitement in your wedding. Using your imagination and being creative as you can be will definitely help you plan a very memorable and awesome winter wedding. Wedding photos should also be part of your planning, like hiring an official photographer or buying yourselves the latest digital camera available in the market, to capture all the intimate moments you, as a couple, will be sharing in this very special event and you will cherish for the rest of your lives. Looking For A Wedding Photographer Questions To Ask Wedding pictures are a treasure for many couples as it captures and seals moments in time that are precious to them. This is why it is important for one to choose a wedding photographer that will capture those moments in the best way possible. Here are a few things to keep in mind when selecting such a person. One of things a person should consider is how they want their pictures to be taken. Everyone has a different style that appeals to them. Some photographers are more traditional in their approach while others may take a more journalistic style. There are others that may even do both styles. Some couples love a more traditional approach and some like to have pictures that are in the moment. It is important that the couple sit down with the photographer and see what he or she has to offer fotografies gamou. If they are a true artist and devoted to their craft, they may offer suggestions that might help to enhance whatever ideas you already have in mind. It helps when you can look at the portfolio to see what they have already accomplished. This provides a chance to see what style they are use to and if it is what you are looking for. There is also a chance to see how other photos have turned out and if you like it, most likely the same style will be right for you. One will also get a chance to see how well this person works in difficult settings. This could be things like dim lighting and other tricky situations. Dim lights do not help to create great pictures so this could be an important factor. It might also be a good idea to find out what kind of equipment is normally used and if an assistant will be needed. When you have decided what you want to do, it is important to make sure that everything is put in writing. This includes things like the pricing, number of prints, size of the photos and when they will be available. In case of a mishap, you will have documentation to prove what was agreed upon. Photography cost quite a bit of money and has to fit into the budget. It helps to know what different professionals have to offer so that you are able to decide as a couple what the best price will be. You will also have to think about how the photos will be used and who you will be giving them to. This will affect the budget as well and not just the fee that has to be paid. Finding a wedding photographer can be easier if you know exactly what you want. There are many places online with examples of pictures taken by professionals so that you can see what appeals to you. It is also best to ask different friends and relatives who they suggest especially if they have photos that you admire. This could save you time and money. Find Your Way To A Cheap Wedding Photography Package An excellent deal for a cheap wedding photography package is what most soon-to-be-married couples would look for. Here are several tips on how to save money with cheap wedding photography without putting the quality of the pictures at risk. 1. Shop around. Expanding your options is still the best approach if you're serious about saving some extra bucks. Of course, this method can be tiring and can take up much of your time. Nevertheless, it will all be worth the effort once you stumble upon an arrangement that suits not only your budget but your preferences as well. Compare and contrast the prices and the package inclusions. Keep in mind that the cheapest selection isn't always the best one. You may even come across a bargain deal that is well within your budget, yet seems suspiciously lacking when it comes to quality. Try to steer clear of these alternatives. As much as possible, you should go for something that is easy on the pocket yet big on quality at the same time. 2. Use your connections. Your friends can definitely become your most useful allies when preparing for a wedding. So start asking around if any of your pals knew of a person who photographs weddings for a living, may it be a first-degree connection or farther. The whole point is to attempt to use your - and your friends' - connections in order to get a discounted price. 3. Ask a friend/family member to act as your wedding photographer. If you're really low on cash yet you badly want to capture your wedding moments on camera, you might want to consider requesting a friend or a family member to take the pictures. Although the act of taking snapshots can be quite easy, the pressure of trying to make the photos turn out great could be nerve-racking. Needless to say, you need to at least pick out someone that you think has a good eye for pictures. In order to ensure that the photos would actually come out good, arrange a rehearsal session with your chosen photographer a few days before the wedding. On your meeting, try to explain how you would want the pictures to appear. You can in fact show samples of wedding shots taken by professional photographers. fotografies gamou This way, your appointed person will have an idea of what you want him or her to do. Getting a hold of a beautiful yet cheap wedding photography is indeed possible. You simply need to work with the limited resources that you have and try to make the best out of the entire situation. How to Hire a Destination Wedding Photographer and Videographer Life is all about change. Change is exciting and refreshing. That is primarily the reason why so many couples nowadays opt for destination weddings. It is a pleasant change of scenario. The constant input of suspense and surprise is what keeps such weddings, wild and memorable. Once you are done with hiring your travel agent, resort, save-your-dates and invitations, come to the most important person to be hired on the crew, the photographer/videographer. Whether to hire a local photographer or someone from one of the referrals How do you go about gauging the person's talent and worth To make things simple, look for the following while hiring your destination wedding photographer/videographer. Spontaneity and creative use of backdropWeddings are quick-paced. Capturing timeless moments depends on quick reflexes and thinking. fotografies gamou This comes only with experience. Some of the amateurs are naturals, yet finding one can be difficult. Look through the portfolio and see how the photographer cum videographer has used the background, the location and the lighting. Does it exude the right feel and mood If you are satisfied, tick off the creativity box and move on to the next aspect. Variability in styleSome photographers cum videographers are stuck with either too much of candid photos or too much of 'moments' photos. Choose the person who has variety in his/her style. You don't want a boring album with too many photos that look similar. Thus, open mindedness towards different styles will be a great plus. Familiarity with the locationThe person need not know every nook and corner of the destination. fotografies gamou Yet, a fair knowledge regarding good spots for photographing will be an added advantage. Again, if the photographer stumbles across a new spot during a routine survey of the location, he/she should be open minded enough to try the location at least, instead of sticking to the 'usual routine' spots. As for videography, you need to mention, very clearly, as to what you want on record. Some videographers offer to do a 'movie-style' engagement video, wedding video and later, trash the dress video fotografies gamou. If you do not want your intimate or personal moments captured on video, put it on paper and voice out your thoughts to the videographer beforehand. Basically, hire the professional who has quite a few trick up his/her sleeves and is sensible. Other aspectsLook for these aspects as well: Does the person work alone or does he/she have any qualified assistants What is the photographer's budget strategy for your wedding Do they customize it to your needs or is it all some generic standard package Does the package include editing, album-making costs, travel expenses and permit fee Some countries require an external photographer to obtain a permit, by paying some fee. Unforgettable Wedding Photos Your wedding will be a day that you will never forget. All the same, it is still great to capture all of the special moments in photographs! Every photographer will cover the same standard array of pictures, but there are some additional images that you should be sure to request. Weddings are very busy, and your photographer will be running around like mad trying to capture every guest and every moment. This is why it is so important to give him a checklist of particular shots that you would like him to take. In the excitement of the day, even the bride is likely to forget about them! For any bride, one of the loveliest images that can be captured are the pictures of her getting ready right before the wedding. The anticipation of what is to come makes for some very poignant moments. This is why it is nice to have your photographer on hand as you put the finishing touches onto your wedding ensemble. Some of the prettiest pre-wedding photos are of brides peeking into in the mirror for one last time before heading out to the ceremony. Another beautiful image is the reflection in the mirror of the back of the bride's gown fotografies gamou. Speaking of pre-wedding photographs, here is another moment to capture: when the mother or father of the bride clasps her bridal jewelry around the bride's neck. It is a very graceful image, and it makes an especially nice memory if the bridal jewelry was a gift from the bride's parents. You will also want to ask your photographer to get some close up detail shots of your wedding jewelry, as well as of the newlyweds wearing their wedding bands. Don't forget to get a good manicure fotografies gamou! If the bride is wearing a gown with a full skirt, I think that one of the most beautiful images is of her sitting on the floor with her gown spreading out around her. fotografies gamou This is why I suggest to get all of your special shots in writing to your photographer before the wedding - I really wanted this image for my own wedding album, but I forgot to ask for it on the day of the wedding. Learn from my mistake, ladies. For an outdoor wedding, make sure to have some photographs taken that show the location in all of its beauty. If there was one thing in particular that drew you to the site, such as a pond or a huge old oak tree, that would be a good location for some pictures of the newlyweds. In these types of pictures, it is nice to show some broader views of the couple in the landscape. There is one more classic photograph to request, and that is one that really shows the detail of the bride's bouquet. A close up of your beautiful wedding flowers is a picture that you will definitely want for your wedding album. It is an image that can be equally pretty taken with the bride holding the bouquet, or with the bouquet set on a table. You only have one chance to take wedding photographs, so you want to be sure to get all of the images that will help you remember the details that made your day special. Use this checklist of unforgettable pictures to get you started, but don't forget to add your own special requests. Current Mood: confused | | 12:41 am |
Use These Wedding Photography Tips For A Stress-Free Wedding Photography is more than just a hobby for many people, and can be a lucrative career. Wedding photography can be incredibly stressful, as you get hired to capture memories for the most special day of a couple's lives. This helps in a number of different ways. It ensures you are not shy or nervous and miss all the great shots, but also helps because it keeps you from shaking the camera when snapping shots. Even with an expensive, professional camera, the pictures may still come out blurry if you shake when you take pictures if you are nervous and your hands are shaking fotografies gamou. Another of the important wedding photography tips to be aware of is to create a "shot list" before going to any job. This is vital to keep you organized and on track while at the wedding. The average wedding takes place over the course of a day, and with all the excitement and business of the day, it can go by faster than expected. Why Hire a Professional Wedding Photographer In this day and age there are many couples planning weddings who believe that there are many different alternatives to hiring a professional wedding photographer. Many couples choose to have a family member or friend take their wedding videos and pictures. Others decide to allow friends to take the pictures, enabling the use of disposable cameras, or trusting friends to have remembered their digital cameras and to take worthy images of the event. While these may be good ideas, they do not usually work out well for the bride and groom in the long run. Family members and friends rarely have the professional caliber photography equipment that is necessary to record an event as special as a wedding. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event for the vast majority of couples. If your relative or friend gets distracted during the ceremony or have inferior equipment, your memories of your special day could be compromised, ending in a large amount of disappointment for the bride and groom later. Someone who is related or otherwise close to the bride and groom will be easily distractible, something that you do not want in your wedding photographer. A professional wedding photographer is someone who is professionally trained with a proven track record of success. They have sample pictures or portfolios to back up their work, and are a neutral third party. Much like a wedding planner, the professional wedding photographer is there to make the bride and groom's day easier, more enjoyable, not to interfere. They can provide you with the high quality images of your wedding day that would otherwise be missing. The second option for amateur photography at a wedding is the disposable cameras. Some couples pass these out to guests at the door, others choose to leave several on each table at the reception, encouraging their guests to take all of the pictures. One of the problems with this method is that disposable cameras do not offer a good quality image. They are actually extremely limited in their functions. fotografies gamou Though they are readily available now with a flash built in, they do not have many exposures per camera, they are expensive, and there is very rarely any zoom functionality available, little less the kind of zoom available to a professional wedding photographer. fotografies gamou A professional will have excellent equipment made for just the kind of pictures that you will want to commemorate the day. They also have photography training and expertise that allows them to see shots that others will not, including those that your guests may take that you will not want. Where disposable cameras often generate dark, grainy pictures, a professional will have the appropriate experience to ensure that your photographic memories are of the highest quality. While there are alternatives to having a professional wedding photographer, they should be used in addition to the profession, not instead of. A professional will be able to provide you with the high quality images that you will want, not the random, dark photographs that you will not. My First 3 Years As a Wedding Photographer - Lessons Learned Wow, it's been a roller coaster ride for me in the last 3 years. As well as holding down a full time job as a marketing manager I've also been building up my wedding and portrait photography business. Whilst it's been very challenging juggling the two elements in my life, it's also been richly rewarding, and I've learned some very valuable lessons. So what advice would I offer other like-minded photographers looking to build a career in social photography Here are some of my top tips:1. Plan your week ahead - When you are juggling both a job and a business it's absolutely critical that you manage your time effectively fotografies gamou. A great tip is to spend an hour every Sunday afternoon planning your week ahead. Also, plan in time for your different 'roles', such as 'Photographer', 'Day Job', 'Father' and 'Husband'. fotografies gamou It's vital to keep some balance in your life, so plan in some down time and recreation. 2. Look at other photographers' work, but keep true to your style- Whilst it's great to look at other photographers' work and style to get inspiration, you shouldn't overdo this. It's important to develop your own unique style and trust your own artistic instincts. At the end of the day it's your own unique vision and style that you must sell, and this is what becomes your brand identity. Rest assured that you are probably much better than you think you are! 3. Write a business and marketing plan- If you don't set yourself objectives for each year, and write out a plan of how you will achieve them, there's a high probability you won't achieve them. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it's a fact! We write a business plan every January for the year ahead, set out all of our objectives and then work on a marketing action plan for how we are going to achieve them. Write a plan, but more importantly, work the plan! 4. Keep networking- Keep building links with other wedding suppliers, such as other photographers, make up artists, venues and dress makers. It's a great way to raise the profile of your company and also generate leads. If possible join a local business networking group. 5. Maintain a positive mental attitude- This is less tangible but incredibly important. It's tough getting a business off the ground in the current economic climate, and you're going to face knock-backs and challenges along the way. You must keep your objectives in mind through it all, and remain positive. You have to build up some mental resilience. In addition I would say that you should try to adopt the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen, which basically means that you seek to continuously improve every aspect of your business and photography. Good luck! Keep positive and above all persist, and I'm sure you'll make it as a professional photographer. Current Mood: content | | Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 | | 2:19 am |

The Biggest Marketing Tool in Wedding Photography Business There are many ways to advertise your upcoming new business in photography, but there is nothing that beats Online Marketing fotografies gamou. Here are only a few reasons why not having an online presence is a very bad move in the photography business. Most of the brides start their search by looking on internet. Most of the time people will search for your business online even if they are discussing with you offline. Your competitors are already having a website and can advertise on your business name too. A business without a website raises eyebrows. New generation brides and grooms are much more internet savvy and want similar vendors. Having highlighted the negatives, let me tell you some of the benefits of having a website in this particular business. You will have your own internet based business, as well as an official business email (not a free email like yahoo or gmail). You can put your entire portfolio online. This can include your best pictures, wedding albums of past clients. You can also create online slideshows with music effects to look way better. You can use free online marketing ideas like joining community sites, blogging and interaction in forums. You will build more contacts that will bring you additional revenue. You can utilize paid online marketing options like Google Adwords or banner advertising to drive more clients to your website. You can list your business on online yellow pages and directories. Some of these options are free and will bring you more clients and recognition. You can list yourself on online maps and local listings that are gaining prominence with GPRS enabled devices and search engines. Those are some of the key benefits fotografies gamou. However, there is something more that makes websites the biggest marketing tool to wedding photographers. The key to this marketing strategy lies in the fact that wedding photography business is still predominantly a local business. Most of your clients will come from your area and city. fotografies gamou Most of the photographer's don't like to travel either. As such it is quite easy to find your clients. But on Internet this is even more easier. Modern online advertising technology allows you to pick clients from a very specific location down to the block level. This means that you can show your advertisement to people who are living close by. Also, certain online agencies allow you to pick people based on demographics, so your advertisement can be shown only to people of right gender or age. Think of it this way, you can place your ad right before prospective brides looking for a wedding photographer. No other tool available there allows you to so precisely pin point your prospects and show them with the right advertisement. You can only imagine the response rate such a strategy will generate. Unique Wedding Photography - Location and Shot Ideas If you are looking for a professional wedding photographer to shoot your wedding, you may want a photographer with a truly unique style fotografies gamou. There are many photographers in the wedding business, but some are way more creative and adventurous than others. To make sure you're getting a photographer who will create unique images, it's a good idea to talk to them about the location of the wedding and discuss specific shot ideas. One of the ways to get the best shot ideas is to find wedding photos from others who have already gotten married at that location. Use Google to perform an "image search", which will give you search results comprised of images instead of text. If you search using the name of the venue, plus the word "wedding", you are very likely to get a variety of wedding photos from the web which have been tagged with the venue name. You can also search for wedding websites of couples who got married at that venue. The sites themselves may not have any wedding photos, but you may be able to get in touch with the couple via e-mail and ask them about their experience with their photographer at that venue. People love to talk about and share their wedding photos, and they may even let you look at their photos, which will give you plenty of ideas around a specific venue. A good wedding photographer will be imaginative and come up with ideas on their own, but it helps to give them an idea of your preferences so that they will shoot more of one type of shot and less of another that you may not like. For example, some people just love to have regular "stand up" shots of the wedding party, family, and close friends, in different combination's. If you need this, provide your photographer with a specific list, otherwise you may not get all of the combination's you want fotografies gamou. If you are not big on standups, let them know that as well, which will free up their time to explore other types of shots. Also, don't think that all of the best wedding shots have to include people. Some of the most interesting and artistic photos from the wedding can be still life shots of the rings, food, dessert, or other ornamental aspects of the location environment. Also make sure you discuss this with your photographer to see what kind of ideas they may already have for these types of shots. Again, if you don't like these kinds of shots, also tell them so that they don't spend too much time photographing inanimate objects. Good wedding photography strikes a balance between event coverage and unique artistic creation. To get the most out of your wedding photos, discuss this balance with your photographer and flesh out as many shot ideas as you can prior to the event. This will make the process more efficient, which will give your photographer chance to take more photos, and you will end up with a higher percentage of wonderful shots. Wedding Photography Poses - Part One There are many getting-ready poses that cannot be missed prior to the big event. Most photographers, even beginners, are aware of the before shots. fotografies gamou However, many photographers neglect to create their own "brand" of creativity or poses. One important and traditional shot before a wedding would be the bride and her party getting ready. Pictures of the bride getting ready are absolute classics. Any good photographer can create the standard photographs of the wedding but how do you put your personal "twist" on things Could the mother in law perhaps be trying to "strangle" the bride I know that's a little far-fetched but many clients who have a great sense of humor would love this type of staged comedy. You'll want shots of the bride getting advice from her beloved family including her mother, grandmother, aunts and girlfriends as well as applying cosmetics and fixing hair, putting on the dress, garter, and jewelry. If the bride is religious you could even have her reading silently from the bible, perhaps a prayer from Psalms. This is also a great pose for the groom before the wedding vs. afterward with the idea in mind that they are individually praying for a blessing on their wedding. What you'll be allowed to shoot greatly depends on the preferences and ultimate decision of the bride and groom. You can apply the same "getting ready" shots of the groom and his party of merry men getting ready for the big event. Sometimes it's not possible to get both so whatever you do, don't forget the bride! If the bride and groom are getting ready at different locations it won't be possible to shoot both at the same time. It might be a good idea to remind the bride and groom beforehand so that they can make arrangements for one of the groomsmen to take some cool shots of their getting ready scene. Remember that tradition maintains you should get more shots of the bride than anyone else including the groom. You can easily get shots of the men together just before the actual ceremony which constitutes "before shots". And, it's such fun taking the man shots being manly. One never knows what type of pose or action you'll catch in film while the men are hanging out before the wedding. Current Mood: ditzy | | Sunday, January 15th, 2012 | | 11:50 am |
Using some transparent fishing line, you can hand synthetic snowflakes. Looking hot on a freezing weather is very important for a lot of ladies. fotografies gamou You have the option of going for the icy theme and wear heavily laced satin for your outfit. You winter wedding photos will be more interesting if you add other colors that will contrast the winter white, such as greys, glittering silvers and frosty blue. fotografies gamou MenuSticking to the frosty chilly theme of your wedding, you can design your white cake with snowflake outlines. My First 3 Years As a Wedding Photographer - Lessons Learned fotografies gamou Wow, it's been a roller coaster ride for me in the last 3 years. Plan your week ahead - When you are juggling both a job and a business it's absolutely critical that you manage your time effectively. A great tip is to spend an hour every Sunday afternoon planning your week ahead. Also, plan in time for your different 'roles', such as 'Photographer', 'Day Job', 'Father' and 'Husband'. It's vital to keep some balance in your life, so plan in some down time and recreation. Write a plan, but more importantly, work the plan! fotografies gamou 4. It's tough getting a business off the ground in the current economic climate, and you're going to face knock-backs and challenges along the way fotografies gamou. Current Mood: ditzy | | Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 | | 10:53 pm |
Three Inventions That Changed Wedding Photography For Good Weddings are among life's most important events. For this reason, many people want to keep records of their weddings. They want to be able to show their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren (if they live that long) how 'fabulous' they looked on their wedding day. And the more vivid the 'record' that can be kept, the better fotografies gamou. Now while wedding photography is integral part of modern weddings, with even couples in the remotest parts of the world making an effort to at least get a photographer for their weddings, this has not always been the case. After all, photography is a fairly recent invention; it having been invented in 1826. Worth noting too is the fact that photography, in its early days, was an expensive venture; meaning that much as they would have loved it, many wedding couples could simply not afford the 'luxury' of wedding photography. fotografies gamou There are three inventions, or rather advancements in the technology of photography, that have helped to truly changed wedding photography - for the better. One of these was miniaturization of the camera. Today, cameras are expected - by definition - to be relatively small and easily portable. But that has not always been the case. Early cameras looked more or less like today's X-ray machines. They were the sorts of machine that filled a room! And they were definitely not the sorts of machines that one could carry around. Their use tended to be limited to studios where they were kept; so that people who needed to be photographed had to go to the studios for the purpose. This meant that they were largely useless, as far as wedding photography. A couple that wanted to be photographed on their wedding day couldn't get snapped during the ceremony itself, but rather had to wait till after the ceremony - to go to the studio and get snapped. This was off-putting - and for couples that were not too sentimental, it is something they couldn't bring themselves to do. Second was the development of color photography. As well all know, weddings are usually highly colorful events. Yet early photography was in black and white, meaning there was no ways of bringing out the color in them. This, of course was to change in the early 20th century when color photography - though expensive then - came into being. Through this invention, even couples who were financially constrained found themselves being tempted to bear a considerable expense, just to have the wedding photos in color. Third was the development of digital photography, a relatively recent invention. One thing that digital photography was known to do is to turn everybody into a photographer: a great departure from the situation before, when photography was an art for the 'specialist' photographers only. Thus in modern weddings, you will not only see the official photographer with a camera, but also the friends and relatives of the couple clicking away, some on their phones (as many phones nowadays come embedded with digital cameras). Another thing that digital photography has done is to make photography inexpensive. Thus a couple can take as many photos on their wedding as they want, without the worry of running out of photographic film - a major concern with traditional wedding photography. What To Consider When Choosing Your Wedding Photographer Wedding Photography is perhaps as important as the wedding dress or wedding venue. However, it is often the one area that couples gives the least thought to; but it is the one element of your wedding that will stay relevant to future generations, and help you keep the memories of the day fresh fotografies gamou. There are two principal approaches to wedding photography one is Traditional and the other Reportage. fotografies gamou Traditional wedding photography provides the more classically posed images and a degree photographic control and interaction on the day of the wedding. Reportage or Photojournalistic wedding photography is based on editorial reporting styles; focusing more on candid and un-posed images with little photographer interaction with the wedding guests. Though the two styles may be diametric opposites are most bride and grooms will want a photographer that will confidently switch between these two styles capturing both elements of Traditional and Reportage stylistics. The term 'contemporary wedding photography' is often used to describe wedding photography that is not of a seen to be the usual type of traditional photography. The purpose of contemporary photography is primarily to capture the narrative and ambiance of the day. The reasoning behind this style is twofold; first in order that the bride and groom can relive the experience of the day and secondly that they can enjoy the moments they missed, but that were captured by the camera. Thereby giving a feel for what the wedding was like, rather than a succession of pre-determined poses. This term is often mistaken for meaning any photograph that is not posed or formal fotografies gamou. The ubiquity of digital cameras means that many people can offer their services as a photographer, but a cautionary note should be sounded, contemporary photography comprises of more than relaxed snapshots taken at a wedding, it involves composition and lighting to capture aesthetically pleasing photographs. A common practice at wedding receptions (or wedding breakfasts) is the use of disposable cameras on the tables for guests to use. These are an expensive novelty; don't expect to get a set of album quality photographs, you will be disappointed. The world of Wedding Photography continuously evolves, it is an innovative industry and those at the cutting edge of the industry constantly provide new ideas for the photographic community to follow. As a result trends will continually develop, though some will lack any form of longevity, others will become part of the standard photographic convention. A wedding is a unique occasion, and as such any photographer should be prepared for the unforeseen eventuality. The photographer is constantly looking for the opportunities for candid shots. It is important when planning the timing of events for a wedding that time is scheduled for the photographs, also plan the formal shots before hand and revisit that list before the wedding to ensure 'great aunt Bessie' has not been forgotten, this will alleviate many of the stresses associated with photographing a wedding, and keep everyone happy. The ability of the photographer to diplomatically take charge also helps - predominantly when photographing groups or families. The photographs with young children should be scheduled first, before the children get tired and dirty. Current Mood: energetic |
